The oath of medical professionals to broadly uphold whatever is intrinsically good for us. Do not give patients things that will lower their well being.

Harm can be caused by:

  • Omission (Not doing anything)
  • Commission (Doing something)

Principles

  • The nature of the act, or the action itself must not be intrinsically wrong
  • The agent’s intention must intend for a good effect
  • A bad effect must not be the Means to a good effect
  • If a bad effect is chosen, then the good effects must outweigh the evil that is permitted
