The oath of medical professionals to broadly uphold whatever is intrinsically good for us. Do not give patients things that will lower their well being.
Harm can be caused by:
- Omission (Not doing anything)
- Commission (Doing something)
Principles
- The nature of the act, or the action itself must not be intrinsically wrong
- The agent’s intention must intend for a good effect
- A bad effect must not be the Means to a good effect
- If a bad effect is chosen, then the good effects must outweigh the evil that is permitted
