I have worked in infrastructure in setting up networking devices and firewalls, aswell as writing automation scripts to query network devices. This past year I have attended 12 Hackathons, I primarily develop backend systems in Golang or Python with integration of AWS services like EC2, S3 and Lambda. I have played 20 CTFs ranking consistently high in reverse engineering and forensics. I started a CTF community called BYTE BABIES with a few friends a year ago that has now ranked 3rd in Canada for CTFTime. I am currently playing with UofTCTF and hosting learning seminars and events. Our first reverse engineering seminar had 60 attendees :). This current month I am preparing to take my CySA+ exam, and have been finishing the ā€˜Crafting Interpreters’ book.

Dear Hiring Manager,

My name is David Chen, I am a software and security developer, studying at the University of Toronto. I am a CTF player and security blogger. I would like to become a penetration tester at Software Secured. The work is exciting and fast-paced and rewarding. I believe I’d be an asset to your team. I have been a hobbyist reverse engineer since I was in highschool, and have been involved in the malware analysis communities like OALabs where we dissect malware internals. Ive set up learning seminars at UofTCTF where we go over software security. We went over a Reverse Engineering seminar last month, and are now planning to host a workshop in secure operating systems technologies. Ive been on the software, infrastructure and security side of things. I’ve done fullstack work during hackathons using ReactJS and Golang, along with AWS services. I’ve worked with low-level software development in C, and C++ and have been working on my own dream compiler with a LLVM backend. I setup my homelab last year now used to host networked storage and video streaming. I’m setting up Elasticsearch so that I can query logs easier. I am a part of BYTE BABIES and UofTCTF where we have won canadian CTFs including ISSessions 2025, and MagpieCTF 2025.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have time. Thank you.
