Continuity Test
A test to determine if electrons can flow from one end of wire to the other end. If you dont have a continuity test, then the resistance test will also suffice. A infinite resistance means a discontinuous wire. A 0 resistance means the wire is good.
Outlet Test
If Hot to neutral ~115V and
if Hot to ground ~115V and
if Neutral to ground 0V, then
the outlet is good.
