Cause and Effect
Strong correlation proves that changes in one variable causes changes in another
If one variable increases, so does another.
Example: putting hotwater on a stove, the temperature will increase as the time increases.
A change of x produces a change in y.
Common Cause Factor
Common cause factor that increases both variables, but no variable affects eachother. Example: tomato harvest and lots of people going to beach, the common cause is the fact that its summer.
Reverse Cause and Effect Relationship
Its flipped in relationship. The dependant is actually the independant, the independant is the dependant.
Example: Coffee causes nervousness → nervousness causes coffee
Accidental Relationship
Purely coincidental. Example: # of engineers and # of reality shows increased this year
Presumed Relationship
Does not seem to be accidental, it makes sense although no cause and effect factor is apparent.
Example: Fitness and adventure movie intake
