Definition

The degree of a Polynomial $f$ denoted as $deg(f)$ is the number $k$, where $c_k\ne 0$.

• If there is no $k$, then $deg(f)=0$
• The degree is 1 if the function is Monic Polynomial

Intuition

The degree is the highest power in the Polynomial so for example, the polynomial 7x^4 + 6x^2 + 2, the highest power is 4 in 7x
