Responsibilities
- Accept the patient without discrimination
- Continue to provide services until these services are no longer required
- Act according to your Conscience
- Inform the patient when moral commitments may influence your recommendation of a procedure
- Communicate information accurately and honestly
- Recommend evidence-based treatment whenever possible
- Limit treatment of yourself, or other cases when another physician is not available
- Provide whatever assistance you can to a person who needs emergency care
- Ensure any research you do is evaluated both scientifically and ethically
- Never participate or condone Torture
- Empower the patient to make informed decisions with their health
- Respect decisions of competent patient to accept or reject and recommended assessment
- Recognize the maturity of a minorās right to consent to treatment or care
- Accommodate patient with cognitive impairments to participate
- Respect values and intentions of patients deemed incompetent
- When intentions of incompetent patient are unknown, act in patientās best interests
- Respect the patientās reasonable request for a second option
