Behaviors
Endpoint Behavior
Where the infinities of the function lies. Even degree polynomials will have an endpoint behavior that is horizontal. Either Q1-Q2 or Q3-Q4. Odd degree polynomials will have endpoint behaviors that are diagonal like: Q3-Q1 or Q4-Q2
Note: We do left to right quadrants so you cannot do Q1-Q3 since that is reading right to left. IT IS ALWAYS Q3-Q1
Bounce and Cross
For Factors Bounce: Graph continues in the opposite direction. Cross: Graph continues in the same direction. Order 2,4,6… even order factors have bounces on the graph. Order 1.3.5… odd order factors will cross on the graph Order 0 we don’t care about because it is impossible to have order 0 in a factored form polynomial.
