Microsoft developed a method for web creation specifically and only for IE internet explorer. Any web developer in those times would be required to make a website for the regular web in html, js, etc aswell as a website written in ActiveX. IE is shit and it was shit writing ActiveX. The only reason they did this was to create monolithic systems establishing dominance on the internet.
